Job Overview: A finisher is responsible for polishing and finishing natural stone and quartz surfaces to enhance their appearance and durability. The primary objective of a finisher is to ensure that surfaces are free of any imperfections; meets quality standards and customer specifications based on the customers' selections.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Polishing: Utilize various polishing techniques to achieve the desired finish on natural stone and quartz surfaces. This will include using polishing pads, specific abrasives for different finishes, chemicals, and pneumatic finishers to smooth out rough areas, remove scratches, and create a quality finish.
- Surface Preparation: Inspect stone surfaces for any defects, such as cracks, chips, or stains, and identify areas that require repair or restoration. Clean the surfaces thoroughly to remove dirt, dust, and debris.
- Quality Control: Inspect the finished surfaces to ensure they meet customer specifications and quality standards. Check for uniformity in color, shine, and smoothness. Make necessary adjustments or touch-ups to achieve consistent results. Double check measurements to ensure a proper fitting countertop.
- Repair and Restoration: Perform minor repairs, such as filling cracks or chips, using epoxy or other leading industry materials.
- Safety Measures: Follow safety protocols and guidelines within the organization to prevent accidents and injuries. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) provided while operating machinery, handling chemicals, and working with stone surfaces.
- Communication and Collaboration: Coordinate with colleagues, supervisors, to understand project requirements and provide updates on progress. Communicate effectively to address any concerns or issues related to your position and report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Maintenance and Cleaning: Clean and maintain polishing equipment and tools regularly to ensure their proper functionality. Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Knowledge of Material Types: Develop a comprehensive understanding of different types of Natural stone and Quartz, their characteristics, and appropriate polishing techniques for each type.
- Ability to develop and affirm both company values and industry standards.
